Public Libraries

If you’re in the mood for a good book, chances are one of the Township’s three library branches has hours to suit your schedule.

  • Lyn Branch 613-345-0033This branch is located in the Village of Lyn at 14 Main West.

  • Toledo Branch 
    613-275-2093Located at 424 County Rd 29, this branch is attached to the Township’s Satellite office.
    Monday 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Thursday 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Lending Policy

Library books and internet access are available without charge to all Township residents. Fiction, non-fiction, books on tape, magazines, and videos are offered at all branches of the library. Library materials may be borrowed in accordance with the following circulation policy:


Circulation Policy

  • Materials may be used in the libraries free of charge.

  • Borrowers are requested to inform the libraries of any change of address, telephone number, etc.

  • Loan Period: 21 days (with the following exception):

    • Videos: Borrowed for 1 week.

    • Library materials are ordinarily loaned for 3 weeks. Renewals can be made for a period of 3 weeks, provided no reserve has been placed on the material. Renewals can also be made via telephone.

    • Popular new titles have a reduced loan period of 2 weeks.


Borrowing Limitations:

  • Non-fiction: 2 books on a subject per card.

  • Talking books: 1 per card.

  • Periodicals: 4 per card.


Lost Materials:

Lost materials must be replaced with like material or the replacement cost must be paid.


Reference Materials:

  • Reference materials are usually available for in-library consultation only. However, a special loan of these materials may be made at the discretion of the librarian on duty.


Interlibrary Loans:

  • Books obtained on interlibrary loan are available for the period specified by the lending library.


Fines:

If you return materials after the due date, the following charges will apply:

  • Adult Material: $0.25 per day per item.

  • Children’s Books: $0.10 per day per item.

  • DVDs/Videos: $0.50 per DVD/video per day.

  • Interlibrary Books: $1.00 per day per book.


Internet Access

Free internet access is available to the public at all three branches of the Township library, courtesy of Industry Canada and the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley. Computers are available for public use during regular library hours, and at the discretion of the librarian.


Programs

The Township Library is committed to providing more than simple access to books. The library offers programs designed to educate children while encouraging a lifetime love of reading.

  • Summer Reading Program:

    • Sponsored by the TD Bank.

    • Offered in July and August, aimed at school-aged children, although all kids are welcome to take part.

  • Pre-School Program:

    • Free Story Time for Children Aged Four and Under.

    • The program begins in November each year.

    • Location: 4103 County Rd 29 – Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley Public Library.

    • When: Wednesdays.

    • Time: 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.


Library Week

Library Week typically runs in the month of October. Check back with us for information regarding special events, including an Open House at all three library branches.


The Public Library Board
