Trades Scholarship Recipient

Announcing Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley’s Trade Scholarship Winner

The Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley is proud to announce Jayden Boyer is this year’s recipient of the Township’s Trades Scholarship.  The scholarship was established by the Township’s Economic Development Committee in the spring to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the municipality and to provide financial assistance to a local student pursuing post-secondary education in a skilled trade.  The Township will be offering a Trades Scholarship every year going forward.

Being a recent graduate from Thousand Islands Secondary School, Jayden has already gained experience within the trades due to the opportunities provided through the school’s co-op program, followed by his employment at the same co-op site.  These connections helped guide Jayden to gain greater interest in machinery and the science behind them, leading him to pursue the Mechanical Engineering Technician program at St. Lawrence College, Kingston Campus.

“Receiving a post-secondary education is very important to me.  I know that I will learn valuable transferrable skills that will make me employable from my experiences in the program at St. Lawrence College.  The scholarship would be of great assistance in helping me pay for vital components of the program.” – Jayden Boyer

Jayden was deemed to the be ideal candidate by the Economic Development Committee due to his various accomplishments and involvement within the community through sports, volunteerism and participation in local events.  At a young age, he has already demonstrated his interest in a variety of skilled trades in both agriculture and manufacturing sectors.

“The Economic Development Committee wish Jayden continued success in his studies and career goals.” – Economic Development Committee Chair Gord McFarlane
