All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs)

ATVs offer a fun recreational activity, but it's important to respect private property and roadways. Familiarize yourself with the local rules and regulations before heading out.

Enforcement and Complaints

ATVs are regulated under the Highway Traffic Act, with enforcement by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), not the municipality.
If you wish to file a complaint, the OPP requests as many details as possible, including:

  • Location & Time of the incident

  • Description of the ATV and driver (if possible)

By-laws and Key Rules

  • By-Law 22-69: Permits and regulates off-road vehicles on designated municipal highways.

  • By-Law 23-23: Agreement with the Rideau Lakes ATV Club.

Key Rules to Remember:

  • No riding 30 minutes before dusk or 30 minutes after sunrise.

  • No riding in settlement areas or south of County Road 2.

  • ATVs are not permitted within any municipal park.

  • Riding along County Roads may be restricted or prohibited.
