Official Plan

Overview of the Official Plan

The current Official Plan was approved, as amended, by the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville on October 25, 2018.

Official Plans are required to be updated and reviewed every ten (10) years, with the next review scheduled for 2028.

The Official Plan is a key planning document that outlines the long-term goals and objectives of the municipality in relation to land use planning. It provides a statement on where and how development should occur, both now and in the future. The Plan also defines the planning policies and land use designations currently in effect.

When reviewing any planning application or proposal, Council, Township Committees, and staff must consider the Official Plan. The Plan includes both textual policies and maps that illustrate how lands are designated or classified.

How to Find Designation of Properties

Map It GIS is a mapping application provided by the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville in partnership with Elizabethtown-Kitley. This mapping application provides access to an active map of the Township and will show current planning applications as well as planning information which includes Zoning By-law Schedule layers and Official Plan Schedule layers that can be used to help determine the zoning and designation of your property.

This parcel mapping is displayed to help identify properties and give a general sense of where lot lines are positioned. Do not rely on this mapping as a true and accurate indication of where property lines are located.

For more information on the Official Plan, including inquiries regarding your property, please contact the Planning Department at planning@ektwp.ca or 613-345-7480 ext. 217.
